About Us

Axumite is named after the ancient world’s largest civilization, Axumite kingdom, introducing the cultural foods and other products of Habesha. We are located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Our mission is to introduce our cultural products to the world, to preserve our culture, to deliver high quality blends to our people in diaspora and to create job opportunity especially to our women.

Most of our products are sourced from local farmers and mothers. The main inputs for our food products are sourced from local farmers mainly from Tigray and the remaining are from some parts of Ethiopia. Then in the production process, our mothers, the specialists when it comes to tasty habesha foods, are involved. The handmade crafts and plates are also made by our women.

We created market opportunity to women suppliers who are survivors of war and genocide and are living in a collapsed economy since the war waged. We are planning to establish a village which organizes our sexually harassed and disabled women and engage them in producing the products we are selling such as hand woven plates and other handmade products.

Creating job opportunity for these women do not only has a positive impact in empowering and helping them to be self- sufficient, but also gives them hope to live and be able to raise their children. As our customers are in the international market, this can create sustainability in the availability of market and continuity in their income, unlike the fluctuation in the local market.
